About Cae Felin CSA CIC

Established in 2022, CF is located on a 7.6 acre field. CF’s Mission and Vision is available here. Since 2022 volunteers and staff have established zones for cultivation and biodiversity restoration. Within the cultivation zone an accessible raised bed garden and a no dig market garden (with the aim of producing veg boxes) have been created, as well as a heritage variety fruit and nut orchards. Within the biodiversity zone three large ponds have been created. To support on site activities CF has sheds, a small greenhouse and a compost bin/rain harvesting shelter and irrigation system.

Currently CF runs a volunteer community gardening programme every Saturday and has established links with the SBUHB Traumatic Brain Injury Service and Cefn Coed Psychiatric Hospital Rehabilitation Ward to provide therapeutic sessions. Previously CF have provided Social and Therapeutic Horticultural activities for local primary schools, Gower College, SBUHB Occupational Health, BAME, and Bwyd Abertawe amongst others, which we would like to expand and grow.

With financial support received from Welsh Government, Cae Felin will be working in partnership with Food Sense Wales to grow organically produced vegetables that will be distributed into primary schools in Wales ~ Welsh Veg In Schools

CF currently has links with other organisations in the community:

  • Swansea University Sustainable Wellbeing Research Group (Welcome | Sustainable Wellbeing Research Group) conducting research into the psychological wellbeing impacts of nature-based activities.

  • The local Swansea CSA network, including Cae Tan CSA, Summit Good, Black Hills CSA and Big Meadow CSA.
